SOS Overview

If you are having thoughts of suicide, you are not alone. Many people have had suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives. Some problems and experiences can leave you feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. Feeling suicidal is not a sign of weakness. It can often make you feel you have no other option, but this is not true. We know that with time and support, things can and do get better. The pain, as well as the suicidal feelings, will pass.

Take hope in the fact that people DO get through this, even if they are feeling as badly as you do now. You can and will get through your difficult time.

SOS Orkney is designed to support you and help to cope with your suicidal urges when they arise so that you may continue your path to recovery.

Please take time to read this guide and fill out your safety plan. In this plan you can identify your triggers, add your coping strategies, log fond memories and contact details for those who can help you. The safety plan will come in handy when you are experiencing a difficult time. Once it is completed, you can follow the steps in your Safety Plan to ensure your safety. If you feel following the Safety Plan is not enough, call for help or emergency services through the SOS tab.
